Baseball Recap: Ajo Has No Trouble Against Heritage Academy

Ajo never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Heritage Academy on Thursday. They blew past the Heritage Academy Heroes 14-4. The Red Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gabriel Cooper was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Cooper was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malin Lewis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jasai Del Rosario was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Ajo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Academy only posted an OBP of .400.

The win got Ajo back to even at 2-2. As for Heritage Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ajo will face off against Holy Family Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ajo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Heritage Academy, they will take on New Way Learning Academy at 4:30 p.m. on March 27th.
