Softball Recap: San Jacinto Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Temescal Canyon, San Jacinto was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 21-5 margin over the West Valley Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Lucy Barreras was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Keyera Cameron was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Izzy Soto, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

San Jacinto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

San Jacinto's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for West Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

San Jacinto has already played their next contest, a 9-3 loss against Elsinore on the 30th. As for West Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-0 defeat against Temescal Canyon on the 2nd.
