Lake Forest Academy is 0-3 against Lake Forest since May of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The Caxys will welcome the Scouts at 10:00 a.m. Lake Forest Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Lake Forest Academy is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Northridge, falling 8-2.
Lake Forest Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Fraser, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lake Forest can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Grayslake Central with a sharp 12-2 win. The Scouts not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 21-8).
Hudson Scroggins looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Luke Pasquesi was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Forest's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Charlie Graham, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lake Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lake Forest Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Lake Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lake Forest Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lake Forest Academy suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Lake Forest in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Caxys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
