Basketball Recap: Riverton Parke Falls Despite Big Games from Jaylynn Nelson and Haylee Mathas

Riverton Parke has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Parke Heritage Wolves on Thursday, falling 45-20. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Wolves are ranked 43rd).

Despite the loss, Riverton Parke had strong showings from Haylee Mathas, who posted nine points and five rebounds, and Jaylynn Nelson, who put up two points.

Addilee Dawn Jenkins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Parke Heritage, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Dawn Jenkins also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Lila Busenbark, who had seven points.

Riverton Parke's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Parke Heritage, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Riverton Parke didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-35 loss against Eminence on the 27th. As for Parke Heritage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-5 win against South Vermillion on the 23rd.
