Volleyball Recap: Palmer Trinity Falls Despite Big Games from Valeria Roja-Cano and Kimberly Freer

If Palmer Trinity was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Somerset Academy South Homestead on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons fell 2-0 to the Pine Crest Panthers on Monday. The Falcons were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in September of 2021.

Despite the defeat, Palmer Trinity had strong showings from Kimberly Freer, who had eight digs and two aces, and Valeria Roja-Cano, who had three aces.

Pine Crest found their leader in sophomore Isabella Collado, who had five digs and five aces. Collado is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Foreman, who had six digs and three aces.

The loss snapped Palmer Trinity's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 14-7 record. As for Pine Crest, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Palmer Trinity wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against NSU University on the 8th. As for Pine Crest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Gulliver Prep on the 8th.
