Volleyball Game Preview: Asheville Cougars vs. Scotland Fighting Scots

The Asheville Cougars will square off against the Scotland Fighting Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Asheville is coming into the match hot, having won their last 17 games.

Asheville hadn't beaten A.C. Reynolds on the road since October 4, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 3-1.

Asheville walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-10, 25-23, 11-25, 25-19.

Asheville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elyse Burchfield led the charge by getting 19 assists and four digs. Burchfield has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last ten times she's played. Poppy Jones was another key player, getting six digs and two aces.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Scotland walked away with it. They blew past the Trojans 3-0 on Saturday.

Asheville's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Scotland, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
