The Proviso West Panthers will head out to challenge the Francis W. Parker Colonels at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Proviso West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Proviso West came up short against Northridge and fell 11-8.

Logan Komperda made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Andres Becerra also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Proviso West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Francis W. Parker had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Proviso East with a sharp 9-1 win.

Nathan Pantoja was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Hamid, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Julian Pantoja, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-2. As for Francis W. Parker, their record is now 1-0.
