Basketball Recap: Carbondale Takes a Loss

Carbondale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Marion Wildcats, falling 65-41. The Terriers were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Carbondale's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Marion, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Carbondale and Marion could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Carbondale (ranked 170th) will meet Mt. Vernon (ranked 15th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Marion will take on Nashville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday down 66 places (91 vs. 25).
