Softball Game Preview: Spurger Pirates vs. Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets

The Spurger Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Spurger made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bob Hope, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Spurger blew past Bob Hope 19-1 on Tuesday. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Good Samaritan HomeSchool had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Force.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Spurger, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4-1.

Spurger skirted past Good Samaritan HomeSchool 21-20 when the teams last played back in March of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spurger since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
