Basketball Recap: Rossville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Frankfort

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rossville). They claimed a resounding 59-17 victory over the Frankfort Hot Dogs. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Hot Dogs are ranked 389th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rossville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Burkle, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Victoria Vanderwall was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Rossville was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frankfort only posted one assist.

Despite the loss, Frankfort still got an impressive performance from Ella Mcatee, who scored 14 points and four steals. Gracie Layton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Rossville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Frankfort, their loss was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rossville will head out to challenge Tri-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rossville is facing Tri-Central at the right time seeing as Tri-Central is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Frankfort has already played their next contest (against Western Boone), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
