Basketball Recap: Seabreeze Sandcrabs vs. DeLand Bulldogs
The Seabreeze Sandcrabs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 38-19 bruising from DeLand. While losing is never fun, Seabreeze can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 186th).
Despite the loss, Seabreeze still got an impressive performance from Sarahnoel Randolph, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Seabreeze struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Seabreeze's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for DeLand, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Seabreeze will face off against the Falcons at TBD on Monday. Menendez is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for DeLand, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully New Smyrna Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
