Basketball Recap: Canoga Park Comes Up Short

Canoga Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Van Nuys Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 0-0 last Monday.

Jaden Gervacio went supernova for Van Nuys, putting up 15 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Van Nuys is 2-1 when Gervacio posts three or more steals, but 5-7 otherwise. Steven Tu was another key player, scoring 12 points and seven rebounds.

Canoga Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Van Nuys, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Coming up, Canoga Park will challenge Sylmar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Van Nuys, they and Kennedy will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Kennedy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Van Nuys surely won't give up without a fight.
