Football Recap: Edwardsville Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Edwardsville's offense. They were dealt a 54-0 loss at the hands of the East St. Louis Flyers on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Dean Williams threw for 74 yards on six of 13 attempts. Devyon Hill-Lomax was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards. On the ground, Brandon Houston Jr. rushed for 29 yards.

East St. Louis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ahmad Coleman led the charge by rushing for 90 yards and one touchdown. Myson Johnson-Cook was in the mix as well, providing the Flyers with two scores.

Edwardsville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for East St. Louis, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Edwardsville will challenge rival O'Fallon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East St. Louis is set to square off against their familiar foe Belleville East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Flyers 12.6, the Lancers 14) so any points scored will be well earned.
