Baseball Recap: Neumann-Goretti Comes Up Short

Archbishop Ryan hit Neumann-Goretti with a six-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Saints fell just short of the Raiders and Ragdolls by a score of 9-8. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders and Ragdolls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Johnluca LaSpada was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Neumann-Goretti: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Dylan Lenhart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick DiGiacomo, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Neumann-Goretti's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for Archbishop Ryan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neumann-Goretti will square off against Holy Ghost Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Archbishop Ryan, they will challenge Franklin Towne at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Raiders and Ragdolls surely won't give up without a fight.
