Basketball Recap: Massac County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Massac County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Carterville Lions by a score of 43-33 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Lions last Saturday, they had to take a 54-40 loss.

Carterville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Adie Sykes, who posted 12 points. That's the most points Sykes has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Seaman, who had three points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Massac County moved to 10-15 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Carterville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-18.

Massac County will head out to take on Ballard Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Carterville has already played their next matchup, a 51-37 victory against Murphysboro on the 6th.
