Faith Lutheran faced Foothill in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Crusaders skirted past the Falcons 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted against the Falcons since September 19, 2022.

Faith Lutheran was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Abby Bunyan paced Faith Lutheran's offense, picking up 14 kills. Bunyan got some help from Camden Cook and her 23 assists. Parker LaFontaine controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Foothill's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Wright, who had 16 digs and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Chase, who had five digs and three aces.

The win got Faith Lutheran back to even at 12-12. As for Foothill, they dropped their record down to 11-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Lutheran will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Palo Verde at 6:00 p.m. on October 6. As for Foothill, they will be playing at home against Bishop Gorman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
