League recap: Grace extends winning streak with victory over Butte County

1A Snake River (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012

Grace extended the longest winning streak in 1A Snake River (8 Man) this week by beating Butte County, 42-36. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Raft River was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Trojans beat Hansen 72-22 earlier in the week.

Challis's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Craig Olson threw for 180 and two touchdowns and Ruger Jarvis had 59 yards receiving. On the ground Olson chipped in 32 yards. Drake Cain helped Challis' passing attack out by catching two balls for 56 yards.

Challis' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Olson has thrown for 943 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Cain has 18 catches for 307 yards. Olson also leads the league in rushing with 234 yards.

The marquee game in 1A Snake River (8 Man) this week will be the clash between the Vikings and the Huskies. Challis enters the game ranked 17th in the state, while Hansen ranks 24th.

Raft River took down Teejay Berry's team 72-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.
