            Softball Recap: Chaparral Lobos vs. Deming Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            Chaparral extended their losing streak  to four  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-16 in the process. They lost  17-1 to the Deming Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season,  with their most recent  defeat being a  19-2  loss  on Thursday.
As for Deming, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record  this season. The result was nothing new for Deming, who have now won six matches by 11  runs or more  so far this season.
For Deming's part,  Katarina Baca made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  pitched 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. What's more,  Baca posted three  strikeouts, the most she's  had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 In other batting news, Deming got a  massive  performance out of  Cristal Enriquez, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, four  stolen bases,  and three  runs. Those  four  stolen bases gave  Enriquez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Jaylin Holguin, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, three  stolen bases,  and three  runs.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chaparral is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Santa Teresa  at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Meanwhile, Deming will  face off against  rival Silver  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wildcats have won three straight at home, while the Fighting Colts won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
