Softball Recap: West Cabarrus Takes a Loss

West Cabarrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Cox Mill Chargers, falling 20-9. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chargers earlier this season, when they won 11-3.

Cadyn Ready was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Kamryn Weaks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

West Cabarrus' record now sits at 4-9. As for Cox Mill, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Cabarrus will square off against South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cox Mill, they will challenge Mallard Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mavericks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.36 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
