McEwen had won five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 2-1 to make it six. They managed a 24-20 win over the Houston County Fighting Irish. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tylon Carter threw for 139 yards and one TD on only 12 passes. Truman Gill was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards. On the ground, Aiden Kelsey rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores.

As for Houston County, they now have a losing record of 2-3. They gained 57 more yards on the day, but it was McEwen that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Houston County still got an impressive performance from Preston Mitchell, who rushed for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mitchell showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 52 yards.

Looking ahead, McEwen will square off against Wayne County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Houston County, they will challenge Cornersville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
