Basketball Recap: Washington County Bulldogs vs. Fruitdale Pirates

The Washington County Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They walked away with a 73-65 victory over Fruitdale. The win was some much needed relief for Washington County as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Fruitdale still got an impressive performance from Deion Taylor, who scored 28 points. That was a full 43.1% of Fruitdale's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Conner Jones, who scored eight points.

The victory got Washington County back to even at 9-9. As for Fruitdale, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-19.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on January 30th. Blacksher has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11. As for Fruitdale, they will head out on the road to square off against the Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McIntosh presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in Alabama (the Demons are ranked 137th, while the Pirates are ranked 470th).
