Softball Game Preview: Western Alamance Warriors vs. Southeast Alamance Stallions

The Western Alamance Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Southeast Alamance Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western Alamance will be strutting in after a win while Southeast Alamance will be coming in after a loss.

Western Alamance proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 18) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Seaforth 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 15, 2024.

Camryn Rodrigues spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bayleigh Burris, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Ryan Justice was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Southeast Alamance was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of Seaforth by a score of 3-2.

Tatum Shelton put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Katie Lloyd was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

Southeast Alamance has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. The win got Western Alamance back to even at 4-4.
