Recap: Hickory Red Tornadoes vs. Statesville Greyhounds
The Hickory Red Tornadoes put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 30-14 win over Statesville. Given Hickory's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Statesville is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hickory to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amare Clark, who rushed for 97 yards. Clark really tore up the turf during one magnificent 88-yard run. Isaiah Lackey and his 132 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hickory's win.
Hickory's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. As for Statesville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickory will take on Huss at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Statesville, they will be playing at home against South Point at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
