Football Recap: Rubidoux Falls to Desert Hot Springs in First Game of Season

Rubidoux unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 32-14 fall against the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Joshua Green, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Even if they lost, Rubidoux's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Jesus Vasquez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself.

Dominick Ambal was a one-man wrecking crew For Desert Hot Springs. as he rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 69 receiving yards and one TD. Ambal really tore up the turf during one magnificent 97-yard run. Jesus Valenzuela was another key player, picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Looking ahead, Rubidoux will take on Pacific at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Desert Hot Springs, they will challenge Xavier Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
