Softball Recap: West Texas' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

West Texas waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Highland Park Hornets. Considering the Comanches have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Haven Lee was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Elliott was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Jett, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

West Texas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland Park only posted an OBP of .300.

West Texas' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Highland Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15-1 record this season.

West Texas will have a chance to go back-to-back against Highland Park: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
