Softball Recap: Maranatha Christian Takes a Loss

If Maranatha Christian was riding high fresh off their 24-0 takedown of Guajome Park Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Maranatha Christian fell just short of Tri-City Christian by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. Maranatha Christian was not able to make up for their defeat to Tri-City Christian from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Lillian Visser was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Visser was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Hope Fitzherbert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Kennedy Arango also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Even though they lost, Maranatha Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Maranatha Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Tri-City Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1.

Looking ahead, Maranatha Christian will challenge St. Joseph Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be St. Joseph Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Tri-City Christian, they will face off against Foothills Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The match will also give Tri-City Christian their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
