Volleyball Recap: Jerrian Taylor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairmont over Lumberton

If Fairmont was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Pauls on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Tornadoes lost 3-0 to the Lumberton Pirates on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 25-21.

Fairmont's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerrian Taylor, who had 13 digs and one assist. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lumberton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Coming up, Fairmont will square off against South Columbus at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Tornadoes are facing the Stallions at the right time seeing as the Stallions are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lumberton, they are taking a road trip to face off against Cape Fear at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season.
