Baseball Game Preview: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. Liberty Common Eagles

The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will head out to face off against the Liberty Common Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Arrupe Jesuit will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Arrupe Jesuit lost 25-5 to Arvada on Wednesday.

Arrupe Jesuit saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan-Carlos Cadena, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Liberty Common fell 9-6 to Dayspring Christian Academy. Liberty Common has struggled against Dayspring Christian Academy recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Liberty Common also got a good showing from Grant Meyer, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Owen Hood made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Teagan Williams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Arrupe Jesuit's record now sits at 1-7. As for Liberty Common, their record is now 4-3.

Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Arrupe Jesuit has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Liberty Common struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Arrupe Jesuit's way against Liberty Common in their previous meeting back in May of 2015, as Arrupe Jesuit made off with a 17-4 win. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
