Recap: Escalon Cougars vs. Sacramento Dragons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Escalon Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-32 margin over Sacramento. Winning may never get old, but Escalon sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Escalon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Jimenez, who picked up 130 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Talan Reider was another key contributor, gaining 123 total yards and two touchdowns.
Escalon has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.5 points per game. As for Sacramento, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-7.
Escalon will square off against West Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in West Park's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups. Sacramento does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
