Anderson Rider tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carmel Christian got a big performance out of Nate Trunck, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Trunck launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Gaddy, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, while Charlotte Latin put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Union Academy. Charlotte Latin was the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Union Academy.
Avery Booker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Luka Kadijevic and Hudson Shoup did most of the damage at the plate: Kadijevic scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Shoup scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Jack Bancroft was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Charlotte Latin's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Carmel Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Carmel Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
