Basketball Recap: Covington Comes Up Short

Covington managed to keep up with Fayette Ware until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Chargers lost 76-54 to the Wildcats. The Chargers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Covington still got an impressive performance from Devon Mason, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 19 points along with five boards and three steals. Mason continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Jackson, who shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points.

Fayette Ware found their leader in sophomore Kylon Terry, who went 14-for-21 on his way to 30 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Terry has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Cash Williams was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 15 points.

Covington's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Fayette Ware, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.

Covington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-39 victory against Bolton on the 16th. As for Fayette Ware, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-39 win against Brighton on the 16th.
