Football Recap: Poston Butte Takes a Loss

Poston Butte had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it four. They took a blow against the Peoria Panthers, falling 43-14. The Broncos lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in November of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 28-22 score last time.

Despite the loss, Poston Butte had strong showings from Easton Filetti, who rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown, and Asher Kerstetter, who picked up 14 receiving yards and one score.

As for Peoria, their win bumped their record up to 2-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Javon Bell had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 141 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. Cristian Zarate helped out on the ground, rushing for 115 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Poston Butte and Peoria will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Broncos are set to square off against their familiar foe Snowflake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Peoria will face off against rival St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
