Baseball Recap: Mansfield Christian Find Success

Mansfield Christian's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Vanlue Wildcats as they made off with an 11-5 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Flames' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Blayne Morrow and JR Reeder made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Morrow struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Reeder tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Morrow went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Reeder got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two doubles. That RBI marked the first that Morrow has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Noah Reeder was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Landan McRae was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Mansfield Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Vanlue, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Mansfield Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-6 win against Crestline on the 18th. As for Vanlue, they will face off against McComb at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
