Softball Recap: Pell City Beats Oxford for Their Fifth Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pell City had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Oxford Yellow Jackets. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Savannah McGaha spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Kherington Keith was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Addy Simmons was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pell City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Pell City's win bumped their record up to 26-13-2. As for Oxford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-18.

Coming up, Pell City will square off against Athens on Thursday. Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
