Marcellus has gone a perfect 4-0 against Gobles recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Marcellus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Marcellus' offense. They came up short against Bangor on Thursday, falling 6-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Wildcats' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Elin Essex spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
Meanwhile, Gobles strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Saugatuck 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Daisy Jackson was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Makenna Hunt was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Gobles' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average this season. As for Marcellus, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Gobles' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Marcellus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gobles, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Marcellus keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
Everything went Marcellus' way against Gobles when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Marcellus made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
