Volleyball Game Preview: Bear Creek Bears vs. Lutheran Lions

The Bear Creek Bears will square off against the Lutheran Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bear Creek will be strutting in after a win while Lutheran will be coming in after a defeat.

Bear Creek extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Aiden Nguyen. Bear Creek came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Denver East thanks in part to Nguyen, who had 23 digs and two aces. Nguyen is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

Bear Creek had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 21-25, 25-13, 25-13, 15-10.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lutheran's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Cheyenne Mountain by a score of 3-2. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Red-Tailed Hawks 25-20 in the first set.

Lutheran took Cheyenne Mountain into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 15-10.

Bear Creek's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. As for Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
