Baseball Recap: Oldham County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Carroll County on Saturday, Oldham County came back down to earth. The Colonels fell just short of the South Oldham Dragons by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Colonels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Hayden Kiesewetter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Oldham County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Edsell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Daniel Stewart was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Oldham County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12-1 record this season. As for South Oldham, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-10.

While Oldham County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
