Baseball Recap: Fairfax Beats Central for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Fairfax had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Central Bobcats with a sharp 14-1 win. 14 seems to be a good number for the Stampede as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Daniel Alaniz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. Fairfax is undefeated when Alaniz allows one or fewer hits, but 7-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Vincent Quadrozzi, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Balderas, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Fairfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.

Fairfax pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Central, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fairfax beat the Bobcats by a score of 17-0 on Thursday.
