Football Recap: Perry County Vikings vs. McKenzie Rebels
Perry County fell victim to McKenzie and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Rebels and fell 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Rebels are ranked 75th).
Weston Martin threw for 34 yards on four of ten attempts. Ayden Flowers was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards.
McKenzie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Timmy Arline, who rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Arline's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 104 rushing yards. Another passer making a difference was Cole Brown, who threw for 146 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes.
This is the second loss in a row for Perry County and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for McKenzie, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Perry County has already played their next matchup, a 17-6 loss against South Fulton on the 19th. As for McKenzie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 50-14 win against Camden Central on the 19th.
