Preview: Geneva Knights vs. Crooms Academy Panthers
Geneva has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Crooms Academy Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Geneva is ranked 703rd, while Crooms Academy is ranked 691st).
Last Friday, Geneva lost to Cornerstone Charter Academy at home by a decisive 57-43 margin. Geneva has struggled against Cornerstone Charter Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Crooms Academy suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 74-41 loss at the hands of Halifax Academy. Crooms Academy's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayden Aristile, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Maxim Micallef, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Geneva has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Crooms Academy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Geneva came out on top in a nail-biter against Crooms Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023, sneaking past 55-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Aristile, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Geneva still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
