Recap: Eastern Ramblers vs. Cardozo Clerks
On Monday, the Eastern Ramblers faced the Cardozo Clerks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eastern was dealt a 80-41 loss at the hands of Cardozo. Eastern's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Eastern's loss came despite strong showings from Rashid Faruq and Isyah Joyner. Faruq scored 16 points along with five assists, while Joyner dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Faruq is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Gatling, who scored two points.
Cameron Young was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-5 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double on 28 points and nine assists for Cardozo. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nasir Slater, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Eastern's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for Cardozo, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Eastern will face off against Ron Brown at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern is facing Ron Brown at the right time seeing as Ron Brown is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Cardozo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
