Softball Game Preview: Rio Linda Knights vs. Antelope Titans

The Rio Linda Knights will challenge the Antelope Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rio Linda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Rio Linda fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dixon on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 10-2 to the Rams. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Rio Linda saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nakayla Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Antelope didn't have quite enough to beat McClatchy on Tuesday and fell 5-3.

Antelope's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Rio Linda, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rio Linda hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Antelope struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Rio Linda couldn't quite get it done against Antelope when the teams last played back in March of 2021 as they fell 11-6. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
