Softball Recap: Berwick Has No Trouble Against Bourgeois

Berwick barely beat Bourgeois the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Braves on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Phoebe Fears looked comfortable as she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Azyria Garrison, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Gaudet, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Berwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 8-4 when they post 11 or more hits.

Berwick's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-16. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bourgeois, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-14.

Berwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bourgeois, they will challenge St. John at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
