Baseball Recap: Springfield Starts Season with Victory Against Dock Mennonite

Springfield had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Dock Mennonite Pioneers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

The team relied heavily on Jake Lennon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Nick Corse, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Looking ahead, Springfield will face off against Marple Newtown at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Springfield's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Dock Mennonite will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Collegium Charter at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th.
