Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Bountiful's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Bountiful waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 77-61 win over the Northridge Knights. Given the RedHawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Knights are ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bountiful to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie Smith, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Heath, who went 8 for 11 en route to 16 points and five assists.

Bountiful was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only racked up 12 assists.

Northridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Sunkuli, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Theo Roach, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Bountiful has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Northridge, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Bountiful wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-45 victory against Bonneville on the 5th. As for Northridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-61 win against Box Elder on the 5th.
