Basketball Recap: Goodwin Tech Drops Highest Score of Season Against Wolcott RVT

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goodwin Tech). Everything went their way against the Wolcott RVT Wildcats on Wednesday as the Goodwin Tech Gladiators made off with a 92-72 win. The Gladiators have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Leading Goodwin Tech to victory were Amare Robinson and Nazir Russell. Robinson went 14 for 27 en route to 33 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Russell almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. Russell's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Edson Hernandez, who posted 13 points and eight assists.

Goodwin Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Goodwin Tech's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Wolcott RVT, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goodwin Tech has already played their next game (against Norwich RVT), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wolcott RVT will venture away from home to face off against Whitney RVT at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Wolcott RVT knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Whitney RVT likes a good challenge.
