Basketball Game Preview: Longview Lobos vs. Rockwall Yellowjackets

Longview is 1-8 against Rockwall since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Longview Lobos will head out to challenge the Rockwall Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Longview didn't have too much trouble with Royse City as they won 66-47. Given the Lobos' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Longview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jailiyah Rockmore out in front who went 6 of 13 on her way to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Terri Sparkman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Longview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rockwall came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bulldogs 40-20.

Rockwall is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. As for Longview, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Longview came up short against Rockwall when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 51-41. Can Longview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
