Basketball Recap: Cairo Comes Up Short

Cairo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Monroe Golden Tornadoes, falling 95-36. The game marked the Syrupmakers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monroe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lorenzo Still, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points and five steals. The contest was Still's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Tinch, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 19 points.

Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Monroe, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cairo will host Dougherty at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monroe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Monroe's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
