Basketball Game Preview: Orange County Fighting Hornets vs. Fluvanna County Flying Flucos

The Orange County Fighting Hornets will head out to challenge the Fluvanna County Flying Flucos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Orange County is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since January 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 65-35 loss at the hands of Western Albemarle. The match marked the Fighting Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Fluvanna County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against Albemarle, falling 78-38. While losing is never fun, the Flying Flucos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Patriots are ranked 22nd).

Orange County dropped their record down to 10-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Fluvanna County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Orange County strolled past Fluvanna County in their previous meeting last Monday by a score of 54-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orange County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
