Basketball Recap: Summit Academy's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

Summit Academy has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 27.65 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell 56-47 to Medgar Evers College Prep. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 71-59 to Medgar Evers College Prep when the teams met back in February of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Summit Academy still got an impressive performance from Jhency Pabon, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 21 points. That's the most points Pabon has posted since back in December of 2023. Amerie Santana was another key player, putting up six points along with eight boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Summit Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

The loss snapped Summit Academy's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 24-10 record. As for Medgar Evers College Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
